Stainborough Parish is centered on the villages of Stainborough and Hood Green in a rural
area to the south-west of Barnsley. The villages which originally served the Wentworth
Castle Estate have grown to approximately 160 dwellings surrounded by a number of
outlying farms.

The Parish Council owns the village green, a sports field, a playground and the village hall,
(known locally as The Pavilion) all in Hood Green.
The Strafford Arms public house is sited in Stainborough adjacent to Stainborough Cricket
Club. You can link to these sites from our Local Landmarks Page.
